According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclone named ‘Asna’ is going to form in the Arabian Sea, which will be the first cyclone of its kind since 1976. According to the Meteorological Department, this cyclone will originate in the north-eastern Arabian Sea. The deep depression has entered Gujarat towards the west-south-west and is now expected to turn into a cyclone. After moving ahead from the Kutch coast, it is also likely to move towards Pakistan in the north-eastern Arabian Sea.
On Thursday, the epicentre of the depression was located 60 km from Bhuj and 250 km from Nalia in Kutch. It is likely to move in a west-southwest (southwest) direction and then move towards the Kutch coast. After heavy rains in Kutch district on Thursday, the rains have stopped on Friday. But now, after 48 years, the district is facing the threat of a rare storm.
Cyclone ‘Asna’ may devastate Mandvi, Abdasa and Lakhpat tehsils of the district as it moves towards Kutch. As a result, the District Collector has appealed to people living in mud houses and huts in these three tehsils to move to safer places and also to provide shelter to those living in such accommodation by 4 pm today.
The Chief Minister held a meeting at the State Emergency Operations Center on Thursday night to review the situation of the impending cyclone. Due to the impending cyclone in Kutch, three signal numbers have been installed at Mundra, Kandla and Jakhau ports. Due to the impact of the possible storm in Kutch district, there is a strong current in the sea in the famous pilgrimage place Narayan Sarovar, Koteshwar area. Strong winds and high waves are blowing in the coastal area since morning.
The weather department has predicted heavy rains in Saurashtra today amid apprehension of a possible storm. While on August 31, there may be heavy rains in the coastal areas. Along with this, on Friday, winds can blow at a speed of 45 to 65 km per hour in Kutch, South Gujarat and Saurashtra. While this speed can be 65 to 75 km per hour on the sea coast. Due to the storm, the sea will become rough on the coast of Gujarat and Pakistan. It is expected that the sea will remain turbulent till August 31.
