This information has been given by Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley. He said, ‘The 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG in March 2027 will be a celebration of the best format of cricket, one of the world’s greatest sports. We are eagerly waiting to host England on that historic occasion.’

Hockley said- ‘We are happy to announce the long-term hosting, which determines the venues for some great cricket matches over the next 7 years. This schedule ensures that the best cricket will be played in the best places at the right time across the country.’

A match was also played on completion of 100 years, Australia won

A test match was also played between these two teams on this ground on completion of 100 years of Test. Australia won that match played in 1977 by 45 runs. Australia also won the first test match played in 1877 by 45 runs.

The first test of the season will be held in Perth

As per the agreement made till the 2030-31 season, the Boxing Day test will be held in Melbourne for the next 7 years. Not only this, the New Year’s test will be played in Sydney. The test just before Christmas will be held in Adelaide, while the first test of the season will be held in Perth, although Perth had agreed only for the next 3 years.

It also means next year’s Ashes will be held in Perth instead of the traditional Gabba in Brisbane. The Gabba is under construction in view of the 2032 Olympics and will host very few Tests during that time.
