The dead body of a post-graduate trainee female doctor was found in Kolkata’s Government Hospital (RG Kar Medical College) on Friday. Initial investigation has revealed that the trainee doctor was murdered after rape.
The woman was bleeding from her eyes, mouth and private parts. He also has injuries on his stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger and lips.
According to Kolkata Police, the case is not of suicide. Rape was followed by murder. The neck bone of the trainee doctor was also found broken. It seems that she has been murdered by strangulation.
After the incident, medical students, BJP, Congress and Left parties protested outside the hospital. West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
CM Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday that the case will be sent to the fast track court. Will demand death penalty for the culprit. There is no objection to CBI investigation.
Doctors Association said- action should be taken within 24 hours, otherwise medical services will be stopped
Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda regarding the incident. He said that if action is not taken within 24 hours, the matter will escalate further. Medical services will also be stopped.
Police formed SIT to investigate
Kolkata Police has registered a case of murder and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate. Police have also arrested a person named Sanjay on the basis of suspicious activities.
Additional Police Commissioner Murali Dhar told in the press conference that a case has been registered under sections 103 (1) and 64 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). This is a case of rape and murder. We are investigating in a transparent manner.
