Polygraph test of 7 accused in Kolkata rape-murder case has started. The main accused Sanjay Roy is being tested in jail. Meanwhile, former principal Sandip Ghosh, 4 doctors who had dinner with the trainee doctor before the incident, and 1 volunteer are being questioned in CBI office.
CBI said that a team of polygraphy specialists from Delhi’s Central Forensic Science Laboratory is conducting this test. On August 23, Sealdah Court Magistrate had asked Sanjay why he agreed to the test. Sanjay said- The test will prove that I am innocent. I have been framed.
Actually, a trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital late on the night of 9 August. Her half-naked body was found in the morning. After this, doctors across the country protested. Doctors of Kolkata are on strike for the 16th consecutive day today.
Today’s updates on the rape-murder case
- Junior doctors of Kolkata are on strike for the 16th consecutive day. They said- Until our sister gets justice, our protest will continue. There is no other option apart from this.
- Former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, is being questioned for the 9th consecutive day today. The CBI team has questioned Ghosh for 100 hours so far. The CBI is not satisfied with Ghosh’s answers.
- The Calcutta High Court had ordered the case of financial irregularities in RG Kar Hospital to be handed over to the CBI. Today the SIT has handed over all the documents related to the case to the CBI. The CBI has started the investigation.
