Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the release of Rs 1.36 lakh crore owed to the state. Soren argues that this substantial sum is essential for the state’s development, including improvements in education, healthcare, and creating new job opportunities.
Details of the Letter to PM Modi
In the letter, CM Soren highlighted that the funds would enable the state to embark on a path of new development, prioritizing essential sectors such as education and health services. Soren shared the letter on his social media platforms, which quickly gained attention and sparked discussions in political circles. He emphasized that the demand is not for special status or preferential treatment like some other states receive, but simply a rightful claim to the funds owed to Jharkhand.
Soren wrote, “Whenever Jharkhand demands its rights, it faces opposition. However, we are committed to fighting for what is rightfully ours. We are not asking for a special status or a large share of the central budget like some states, but only for what we are owed.” He further elaborated that Jharkhand has fought long and hard for its rights and resources and that these funds would be used for sustainable development that respects the environment, tribal communities, and local culture.
A Call for Fairness, Not Privilege
Soren emphasized that the demand is for justice, not special privileges. He stated, “Our fight is for our rights, not for privileges. The people of Jharkhand have struggled for their state, and now we seek the proper utilization of our resources and rights. With the overdue Rs 1.36 lakh crore, we will lead Jharkhand towards a new path of development that protects our environment, tribal and indigenous communities, and every resident of the state.”
Appeal for Central Support, Not Hindrance
The Chief Minister urged the central government to expedite the decision regarding Jharkhand’s rightful share and to support rather than hinder the state’s progress. He vowed to continue fighting for Jharkhand’s rights, stressing the importance of every citizen’s duty to protect the state’s interests. Soren concluded, “We will raise our voices, fight, and secure our rights just like our ancestors did.”
Hemant Soren wrote to PM Modi to demand the release of Rs 1.36 lakh crore owed to Jharkhand, which he claims is necessary for the state’s development, including improvements in education, healthcare, and job creation.
Soren’s main demand is the release of overdue funds to facilitate development projects in Jharkhand. He emphasized that the demand is for rightful claims, not for special status or privileges.
The funds will be used to improve education and healthcare services, create new employment opportunities, protect the environment, and preserve the culture and rights of tribal and local communities in Jharkhand.
The letter has sparked widespread discussion in political circles, with debates on the state’s rights and the central government’s role in supporting or hindering Jharkhand’s development.
With Assembly elections approaching, Soren’s letter is seen as a strategic move to address state issues, rally support, and pressure the central government to act on Jharkhand’s demands.
