The 19-year-old victim was the daughter of a senior IPS officer who is currently posted in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). After the police recovered the body, it was sent for post-mortem. A third-year student was found dead in a hostel room of a law university in Lucknow on Saturday night. Lucknow Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh said the post-mortem report could not ascertain the cause of death and hence the victim’s viscera has been preserved for further investigation.
Police said the fifth semester student had pre-existing health issues. The university informed the police that her room was locked from inside. When she did not respond to repeated knocking by a student, other students and university staff got alerted. They broke the door and found the girl lying on the floor. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. No visible injuries were found on her body.
