The ranking of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 has been released. In this, IIT Madras has become the best educational institute of the country for the 6th consecutive time. 7 IITs are included in the top 10 educational institutes of the country.

At the same time, Indian Institute of Science of Bengaluru is at the first place in the ranking of top universities. Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University is at second place and Jamia Millia Islamia University is at third place.

NIRF releases category wise ranking of colleges and universities every year. This time rankings have been released in 46 categories. In 2023, this ranking was released in 11 categories. These include all colleges, universities, research institutes, engineering, management, pharmacy, dental, architecture and law colleges.

Rank of institutes is decided on five basis

To decide the ranking, colleges and universities are assessed on the basis of five points – Teaching Learning and Research (TLR), Graduation Outcome (GO), Perception (PR), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI). Under each of these parameters, colleges and universities are given a score out of 100. On the basis of these, students take admission in top colleges.

Along with ranking, some other elements are also important in a college-university, like environment, teachers, placement percentage and basic structure.

Miranda House was on top in 2023

The top 5 colleges in the NIRF 2023 rankings included Delhi University’s Miranda House, Hindu College, Presidency College (Kolkata), PSGR Krishnammal College for Women (Coimbatore) and St. Xavier’s College (Mumbai).
