This video is being shared on X with a communal colour. It is being claimed that extremists attacked a Hindu village. During this time a Hindu person was allowed to jump into the pond.
A verified X handle named Incognito wrote- Islamic mob attacked a Hindu village, a Hindu man jumped into a pond to save his life. Jihadis formed a human chain around the pond and stoned him to death.
More than 7 lakh people have watched the video shared incognito so far. At the same time, it has been retweeted by more than 14 thousand likes and more than 10 thousand people.
A verified user named Srinivas Singh wrote – Peacekeepers attacked a Hindu village in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar district of Bangladesh. During the attack, a Hindu man jumped into the pond to save his life, but the jihadists killed him by stoning him in the pond.

The title of the video on the channel reads – Mayor of Akhaura swam and ran away to escape the crowd. This video was uploaded on YouTube channel on 8 August 2024. In the next phase of investigation, we searched these keywords on Google. Upon searching, we found a media report related to this matter on Bangladesh’s local news website Dhaka Post.
According to media reports, after Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country, her party Awami League leader and Akhaura Municipality Mayor Takzil Khalifa Kajol was attacked by the mob. After the attack on his house, he jumped into a nearby pond and escaped by swimming. After coming out of the pond, he wore a burqa and ran away with the agitators.
Many users on social media are making the video of this incident viral by giving it a communal angle. It is clear from the investigation that the claim being made with the viral video on social media is completely wrong. This video is not of the attack on any Hindu person, but of the attack on Sheikh Hasina’s party leader Takzil Khalifa Kajol.
