Due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, there is a flood like situation in 5 districts. Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Ballia-Varanasi. Boats are running on 85 ghats in Varanasi for the second day today.
More than 500 temples along the banks of the ghats have also been submerged in the Ganga. The water of Ganga and Yamuna rivers has entered 1200 houses in Prayagraj. About 5 lakh people in the city are affected by the floods.
On the other hand, many rivers including Ganga and Gandak are in spate in Bihar. According to the Disaster Management Department, 4 thousand population of West Champaran, Supaul, Nalanda and Gaya districts are in the grip of floods.
In Bihar, 5 people have also died due to lightning in the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 17 states today. There is also a possibility of storm and lightning in some states.
145 roads closed in Himachal
Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, 145 roads are closed due to landslides and floods. The State Emergency Department said that electricity and water supply has also been disrupted. From June 27 to August 9, 100 people have died due to rain-related incidents. The state has also suffered a loss of Rs 842 crore.
