Australian captain Pat Cummins has taken an 8-week break before the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India. He wants to prepare himself for the series.

31-year-old fast bowler Cummins said, ‘Everyone who comes back from a break is fresh. You never regret it. I have been bowling continuously for almost 18 months since the World Test Championship final. So I need 7-8 weeks to recover my body.’

The Border Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India is starting from November 22. This time the Indian team has a chance to defeat Australia for the third consecutive time in its home. Earlier, Team India had won the series in 2018 and 2021.

Cummins has been playing continuously for the last 18 months

Cummins has been playing cricket continuously since the Ashes series against England last year. During this time he played ODI series against India, ODI World Cup 2023, Test series against Pakistan, Test series against West Indies, T20 and Test series against New Zealand, IPL 2024, T20 World Cup 2024 and MLC 2024.

Cummins is desperate to win the series; said- I have not won before

The Australian captain said, ‘After working out in the gym for a week, I am very tired today. Hamstring and ankle problems occur due to continuous bowling, but you cannot do it properly in the middle of the season. In this break, I will do gym, running and rehab.’

Regarding the Test series against India, Cummins said, ‘This is a trophy that I have not won before. This is a trophy that many players in our group have not won. We have achieved great things as a Test group in the last few years. You try to win every series at home.’

Cummins further said, ‘The Indian team is in front of us this summer too. India is a really good team. We play a lot with them. We know them really well. But we feel that we are in a good position.’

India has won the last four series

There is a fierce competition between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, the Indian team has dominated the Kangaroos in the last four series. Australia has not been able to win this trophy since 2017. During this time, the Indian team has won the historic series twice on home soil and twice on Australian soil.

The Australian team led by Pat Cummins had snatched the ODI World Cup from India

last year. In the final match played in Ahmedabad, the Australian team defeated India by 6 wickets.
