Indian team captain Rohit Sharma said on Wednesday that former team chief coach Rahul Dravid, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah gave him complete freedom without worrying about the result. Because of which we were successful in winning the T20 World Cup.
Under Rohit’s captaincy, India won the title after 17 years by defeating South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup held in America and West Indies this year.
Rohit said in a program after being selected as the best male international cricketer of the year, my dream was to change this team without worrying about results and statistics. I wanted to create an environment in the team where the players could play freely on the field without worrying about anything. For this, I needed support.
I got this support from my three pillars which are actually Jay Shah, Rahul Dravid and the chairman of the selection committee Ajit Agarkar. What I did was important for me and of course the players who came in at different times and helped the team achieve what we achieved.
The feeling of winning the World Cup cannot be described in words
Rohit said that the joy of winning the World Cup cannot be described in words. It was a feeling that cannot come every day. When we won the World Cup, it was important for all of us to enjoy the moment, which we did quite well and also thank our country for celebrating with us.
As much as it meant something to us, it meant something to the whole country. It felt great to bring it back home and celebrate with everyone here.
