On the instructions of the Supreme Court, a large contingent of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) took over the security of RG Kar Hospital on Thursday. This CISF team also includes women soldiers, who gathered in front of the administrative building of the hospital and decided their responsibilities. 150 personnel are to be deployed here.
On Tuesday, during the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court, the deployment of CISF was ordered to ensure the security of the hospital. Soon after this, on Wednesday, CISF officers reached RG Kar Hospital and discussed with the hospital administration. The team led by CISF Deputy Inspector General K Pratap Singh prepared a security plan and visited the hospital premises.
CISF officers were present in the hospital on Wednesday night and they held detailed discussions with the hospital administration. After this, it was decided that a CISF contingent of two companies will be deployed in RG Kar Hospital, which will have about 151 soldiers.
It is noteworthy that on August 9, the body of a female doctor was found in the seminar hall located on the fourth floor of the emergency department of RG Kar Hospital. The female doctor was raped and murdered, after which anger spread across the country. Doctors and health workers across the country are agitating demanding security. Meanwhile, on the night of August 14, RG Kar Hospital was attacked by a group, in which the emergency department of the hospital was vandalized. After this, the Supreme Court ordered the deployment of CISF in the hospital.
