Dalit-tribal organizations have called for a 14-hour Bharat Bandh on Wednesday against the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the implementation of creamy layer in reservation. The National Confederation of Dalit and Tribal Organizations (NACDAOR) has called it against the constitutional rights of Dalits and tribals.

The maximum impact of the bandh is being seen in Bihar. There is an alert regarding this in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Many parties including Congress, TMC, SP, BSP, RJD, JMM have supported the bandh.

Impact of state-wise shutdown

Bihar:

  1. Lathicharge on protesters in Patna.
  2. Trains stopped at Ara and Darbhanga.
  3. Highway jam in Jehanabad, Saharsa and Purnia.

Rajasthan:

  1. Schools closed in 16 districts including Jaipur.
  2. Internet services shut down in Bharatpur as a precautionary measure.
  3. Roadways buses stopped in Alwar.

Madhya Pradesh:

  1. Schools closed as a precautionary measure in Gwalior.
  2. Argument between protesters and shopkeepers in Ujjain.

In UP’s Jalaun, protesters clashed with policemen. They pushed the CO. In Agra, BSP workers who came out on the streets forcibly closed shops. They also hoisted the BSP flag on the gate of the Collectorate office. They blocked the highway and misbehaved with people.
