Despite the ban on sale, maintenance and rearing of Thai Mangur fish which causes deadly diseases like cancer and diabetes, it is being sold openly at many places including near Idgah and near Rupaidiha Road Canal under Raja Bazar Chowki of the district. The responsible people are pretending to be unaware. Let us tell you that in the year 2000, NGT (National Green Revolution Tribunal) has completely banned the sale, maintenance and rearing of Thai Mangur fish in the whole of India. Which is being openly violated in the town.
Along with imposing a penalty on sale, there is also a provision of punishment along with fine against those selling and trading it. But due to lack of action against them, the sale of banned Thai Mangur fish is going on in full swing, Thai Mangur fish contains 80 percent lead and iron, arsenic, cadmium, chromium and mercury in large quantities which are very harmful for health. In this case, the court has also given freedom to the police to take direct action, even after which the police and the fisheries department are mere spectators.
When Assistant Director Fisheries Dr Jitendra Kumar was contacted in this regard, he said that it has been reported that action will be taken by forming a task force and running a campaign against illegal fish sale in the district.
In this regard, Inspector-in-Charge Nanpara Pradeep Kumar Singh said that I have just received the information and action will be taken soon.
