Ukraine has occupied more than 1,000 square km of area from Russia. According to CNN, a week ago Ukrainian soldiers attacked the Kursk area of Russia. Since then they have captured about 28 villages here.
About a thousand Ukrainian soldiers armed with tanks and artillery entered Kursk on August 6. After this, Russia had imposed emergency here on August 8 itself.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called it a provocative act by Ukraine. He has ordered his defense officials to expel Ukrainian forces from Russian territory.
Ukrainian army entered 30 km inside Russia and captured many villages
According to reports, Putin held a meeting with local leaders of Kursk on Monday. During this, Kursk chief Alexey Smirnov told Putin that many settlements in his area have been captured by the Ukrainian army. 12 Russian citizens have also been killed in the Ukrainian attack. 121 people have been injured.
Smirnov said that the Ukrainian army had penetrated 30 km into Russia. Ukrainian military chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who attended the meeting, told Putin that Ukraine had taken control of about 386 square miles (1,000 square kilometers) of Russian territory.
Smirnov said that 1.21 lakh Russian people have been evacuated from their homes and shifted to safe places. About 2,000 Russian citizens are still present in the areas occupied by the Ukrainian army. According to BBC, Russian officials have announced to give about Rs 10,000 per person as compensation to the affected people.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, near Kursk, said on Tuesday that 11,000 people had been evacuated from the Krasnoyarsk district, closest to the Ukraine border. The remaining people are also being taken.
